In the air domain, the blend of our technology-led threat replication, live Red Air services and world-class expertise prepare front line forces to survive the fight.
Our crews regularly lead formations in complex multi-national exercises, but we don’t simply put ‘iron in the sky’. Our training is at the heart of the mission cycle.
From preparation and planning through to debriefing and learning, we ensure maximum value is achieved when we are engaged.
By integrating latest-iteration Live, Virtual and Constructive (LVC) and secure data connectivity technologies, we deliver a realistic opposing force for 4th and 5th generation fighters. Our operations are conducted under the necessary civil and military approvals, either on detachment or embedded alongside operational units.
Our support to the Cobra Warrior exercise series is typical of our work in the air domain. Attended by multiple nations and aircraft types, Draken has played a central role in the RAF’s largest exercises for a number of years.
Running biannually, Cobra Warrior is an intense time for our team as they conduct intricate planning and execution phases daily over several weeks, with multiple Electronic Warfare and Red Air platforms airborne at the same time.
While the ‘good guys’ usually prevail, the level of expertise and effects we provide as the ‘Red Team’ are vital. Without our participation this important event for the RAF (and the allied air forces involved) would not be anywhere near as effective.
Exemplified by our work at the recently inaugurated European F-16 Training Center in Romania, Draken operates in collaboration with end-users, government agencies and the localised defence industry to develop tailored solutions to training needs, in this case delivering advanced F-16 training in the host nation.
Draken builds value in our training by tapping into the expertise of our skilled personnel. In this instance, many are graduates and instructors from the prestigious Weapons School. Their extensive experience brings a deep understanding of operational needs, ensuring training is to the highest standards.
