Draken is well-known for our support to air forces, but our work with ground units has been a hallmark of our operations for many years, too.
Contracted to provide Close Air Support training for ground units drawn from multiple services, Draken flies advanced A-4K Skyhawks equipped to deploy training ordnance with pinpoint accuracy using sophisticated avionics. Flown by skilled former-military pilots, this unique service results in considerable cost savings for the customer and preserves organic assets, while still achieving necessary training.
The speed and manoeuvrability of the A-4 Skyhawk and the versatility of our UAV-emulating Diamond DA42 aircraft give the JTAC trainee the same ‘real time delivery’ of platforms currently in operation.
Draken has underpinned high-tempo and realistic JTAC (Joint Terminal Attack Controller) training for the US Navy and US Marine Corps for a number of years at the Expeditionary Warfare Training Groups Pacific (EWTGPAC) and Atlantic (EWTGLANT).
One of few providers able to meet the fixed wing standards and training requirements with consistency, we supply the personnel (including those certified for munitions handling), aircraft, equipment, certifications, licenses, clearances, and administrative support at deployed locations.
They deliver some of the most demanding military training missions there, including dropping live weapons (training ordnance) during daylight hours and at night.
Draken’s Diamond DA42 aircraft is equipped with leading-edge camera sensors and video downlinks to act as a UAV surrogate in Close Air Support training for Joint Fires teams.
Use of our DA42 aircraft allows for highly cost-effective emulation of larger uncrewed platforms in exercises conducted in airspace in which larger RPAS systems cannot fly due to current regulations or where there is pressure on platform availability.
